After Governor’s Cup Exploits, Bulus Expects Better Dala Championship Performance

Young and fast-rising Nigerian tennis sensation, Christopher Bulus, has set his sights on the Dala Hard Court championship after an outstanding performance at the recently concluded Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.

Buoyed by his exploits at the ITF Junior Championship across three legs of the Junior ITF Circuits in Benin Republic and Togo, the Nigerian youngster was given a Wild Card to participate in the two legs of the ITF Futures and did not disappoint with his performances.

He now believes he can take it to the next level, especially after also reaching the quarterfinal of the CBN Senior Open which shot him to number eight on the national rankings, ahead of former national champions; Henry Atseye, Shehu Lawal and Clifford Enosoregbe.

Bulus is poised to do well at the Dala Hard Court Championship in Kano later this month.

Speaking about his Governor’s Cup exploits, Bulus said: “For me, I played really well and I saw a difference with each of the matches that I played.

“The players defeated me using their experience of playing for so long on the circuits, so I believe that if I play more, I can get better and defeat other tough opponents too.

“You could also see that after three weeks of ITF Juniors, we came to play seniors and we got better in the tournament. The local tournaments are the only ones that we have left, but with more matches, we can get better.”

The top 400 world junior star therefore stated his readiness for the Dala Hard Court championship which is expected to cap an amazing tennis year for the youngster, noting that his experience over the past few months will aid his competitiveness in Kano.

“With this (Governor’s Cup) tournament and others that I participated in earlier, Dala and the NCC League will not be so difficult for me,” the young man stated confidently.
