Just In: Over 140 Players Storm Kano For Dala Hard Court Preliminary Matches

Nigerian Tennis Live sources from the ancient city of Kano have confirmed that no fewer than 140 male tennis players have arrived from different parts of the country for the preliminary matches of the Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship.

The players who defied the distance to get to Kano in good time ahead of the tournament, crowded the tennis centre in the northern state to prepare for qualifying rounds of matches before the main draw proper which starts on Monday, 20 November.

Martins Abamu is one of the players expected to fight for a place in the Main Draws of the Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship in Kano.

“Kano is far, Kano is far… that’s the song you always hear on their lips, but they have stormed this place like a swarm of bees,” our impeccable source in the city noted.

Asked if the weather was already posing a serious challenge to the players, he replied: “why are you asking when you already know what Kano will be like at this time of the year?

“My throat don dry, abeg. The weather for Kano no be joke at all. But the surprising thing is how these players came in here from different parts of the country in spite of the distance and the possibility of competing under a harsh weather.”

“In the men’s category alone, over 140 names have been registered. I am not sure of what the women’s list is like,” another source who pleaded anonymity, informed Nigerian Tennis Live from Kano.

As at the time of filing this report, the referees were said to be compiling the names of the players to prepare the draws.
