Nigeria’s Seun Ogunsakin has won his first J100 title in Monterrey, Mexico after upsetting Aaron Gabet, the tournament’s number one seed from France.
Ogunsakin defeated the 17-year-old Gabet in straight sets of 6-1, 6-1 to claim his first ever J100 title and his third title of year 2025 after initially winning J30 and J60 titles.
The Ekiti-born tennis sensation, ranked 234 in the world, won only two of his matches in two sets, as he was made to battle consecutive final set matches en route to the final.
One of his casualties was the tournament’s number two seed, Kohshi Ishibashi from Japan, whom he had to fight to defeat despite taking the first set 6-4.

Okonkwo was defeated 3-6, 1-6 but he will be happy his fellow countryman was able to get his revenge and take out the number one seed in two sets, en route to winning his biggest title yet.
