Finalists have emerged at the ongoing FHA Tennis Masters event featuring the Top 8 tennis players in the country, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

The fiercely contested semifinal matches were played on Friday, 11 April, 2025, despite the initial disturbance by the heavy downpour, and the players gave good account of themselves.

Newly-crowned Niger Delta Festival gold medalist, Etoro Bassey, was in fine form during her match against Nigeria’s number four ranked player, Omolayo Bamidele, as she won in two straight sets. Despite her rich form, her opponent made her fight for the win.

Bassey took the match 6-4, 7-6(5) after an intense battle under the floodlights in Lagos, to book an interesting finale against Bright Emmanuel.

Emmanuel, who topped her round robin group despite losing the last match in the group phase, was responsible for the defeat of another top player, Omotayo Blessing, in two straight sets.

Throughout the encounter, the Rainoil Senior Tennis Championship finalist never felt threatened as she bossed the game before ending with a 6-3, 6-1 win to reach a major final consecutively.
