Four semifinalists have emerged from the ongoing Top 8 National Invitational tournament inside the FHA Lawn Tennis Club, FESTAC, Lagos.

The semifinalists were the group winners and the runner-ups from each of the four groups the Men and Women were split into for their round robin matches which ended on Thursday, 10 April, 2025.

Canice Abua and Daniel Adeleye ended the round robin stage with a 100% record, winning all their matches to top their respective groups while Ikechukwu Iloputa and Abubakar Yusuf came second accordingly.

For the semis pairings, Abua will have to face Iloputa to in a fierce battle to reach the final while Adeleye and his friend, Yusuf, will slug it out for the second final ticket.

In the Women’s event, Blessing Omotayo relinquished the lead in the group to newly-crowned Niger Delta Games gold winner, Etoro Bassey, during their match. Thus, Bassey ended the round robin phase as the only female to go unbeaten.

In the Women’s Blue Group, Bright Emmanuel came out tops, despite losing her final match to Success Ogunjobi while Omolayo Bamidele won her second two straights set match against Gloria Samuel to advance.

She will now have to slug it out against Bassey in the semifinal match while Omotayo and Emmanuel will battle it out for the second ticket to the final of the event.

The Top 8 Invitational tournament which served off on Tuesday, 8 April, 2025, will be wrapped up on Saturday, 12 April, 2025, inside the FHA Lawn Tennis Club, FESTAC.
