    Ogunkolade, Ayetuoma Break Into Top 10 Nigerians On Junior ITF Rankings

    Bisola Ogunkolade has snuck herself into the top 10 of Nigerian girls on the Junior ITF Rankings, Nigeria Tennis Live checks have revealed.

    The youngster who has been on the rise for a while has been consistently playing on the Junior ITF Circuit and recently represented Nigeria at the ITF/CAT West & Central Africa Junior Tennis Championship in Lome, Togo.

    And after her most recent outing – the two legs of the J30 Abuja World Junior ITF Tour, the youngster moved into the top 10 of the Nigerian female players in the newly-released rankings.

    Nigeria Tennis Live checks showed that the teenager moved 204 places on the rankings to now sit as the world’s 1902nd player in the world and the ninth-placed Nigerian.

    Meanwhile, her teammate to the ITF/CAT West & Central Africa Junior Tennis Championship in Lome, Togo, Ayetuoma, did good numbers as well, and was the Nigerian with the biggest move after the tournament in Abuja.

    The Port-Harcourt based youngster moved 309 spots and now is the 10th highest-ranked Nigerian player on the Junior ITF ranking even though her world standing is 2790.

    Toluwalashe Agunbiade

    In-form Blessing Otu was one of the biggest movers too, as she now ranks 1529 after moving 182 places while Toluwalashe Agunbiade, who moved 145 spots, is now 1441st in the world.

    Etoro Bassey (769) and Success Ogunjobi (735) who played the final of the first leg of the J30 Abuja event, are now third and second respectively as they moved 48 and 37 places respectively.

    In the Boys’ category, Franklin Jimoh maintained his rise on the Junior ITF Circuit as he moved 16 spots to close up the gap between him and the top two Nigerians on the log. The youngster is ranked 338 in the world.

    Ezekiel Azi and James Panshak were the biggest movers across the two legs of the event as they now respectively rank 1207 and 1739 after moving 217 and 211 places on the ranking.

    Yahaya Sani, Lucky Danjuma and Mubarak Ganiyu are the other Nigerian players who moved some steps upwards on the rankings after the recent competition. They are now ranked 937, 515 and 472 after moving 46, 41 and 3 places respectively.

    Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the performance of Nigerian youngsters in subsequent tournaments they will be participating in.
