The South African tennis federation has named a very strong four-man team for their Davis Cup World Group II playoffs tie against Nigeria.
Nigeria Tennis Live reports that the South African side revealed their players in a post shared on X (formerly X) on Tuesday, 22 January, 2025.
Nigeria’s Davis Cup tie against South Africa is scheduled to hold on Saturday and Sunday, 1 & 2 February, 2025, at the Groenkloof Tennis Stadium in Tshwane, Pretoria, South Africa.

Although the Nigerian side officially resumed camping ahead of their trip to South Africa on Tuesday, 22 February, same day the team list was released, there is no official list from the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) about the players who will be representing the country.
Although the Abuja-based players had been training for the competition since last year, this is the first time the players are coming together ahead of the tournament.
It is believed that US-based Christopher Bulus will be key to Nigeria picking a ticket to compete in the World Group II of the Davis Cup, but the remaining players to join the UTR Pro Tour winner have not been confirmed.

South Africa’s quartet billed to help their country win the five-match competition as named by their non-playing captain Pietie Norval include: Philip Henning, Kris van Wyk, Alec Beckley and Leo Matthysen.
Nigerians will be expecting the official Davis Cup list by the NTF in the coming days as hopes rise over Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the World Group II event for the first time in decades.
