Isa Yahaya worked his way into the boys’ U-16 final at the ongoing Azimuth Shipping Lines Junior Tennis Championship in Lagos.

The youngster, who won the boys’ U-14 event at the Sapetro Futures Tennis tournament in Lagos a few months ago, defeated Nathaniel Aluko in an enthralling finale.

Aluko, 14, who was playing his first U-16 tournament, was the fans’ favourite to reach the final after his unprecedented performances at the competition.

Bayelsa State’s Joel Michael steered into the boys’ U-14 final after an impressive two straight sets victory over Daniel Johnson. His 6-0, 6-2 win sets him up against Godwin Akinfunmiloye who was the better player in his semis match against James Adamu with a 6-0, 6-3 win.
