    Seun Ogunsakin, 7 Others Selected To Play Grade A ITF Events In South Africa

    Nigeria’s Seun Ogunsakin has been listed for three top grade Junior ITF tournaments in the coming weeks, Nigeria Tennis Live can reliably report.

    Ogunsakin, based in Tunisia, and the highest Nigerian player on the Junior ITF Ranking, is among a list of eight players selected to participate in the tournaments in South Africa.

    According to the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), the former African number one U-14 player is listed among players supported by the Grand Slam Player Development Program (GSPDP), CAT and the International Tennis Federation to go on the tour.

    A post by CAT to make this announcement on Tuesday afternoon reads: “With the support of the Grand Slam Player Development Program (GSPDP), the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF) have selected eight African junior players to join the GSPDP/ITF/CAT 17 & Under Team for a series of four ITF World Tennis Tour Junior (WTTJ) tournaments in South Africa.

    “The team arrived on 21 August 2024 and has since been preparing through a training camp held from 22 to 25 August. The CAT team is now participating in the J100 in Johannesburg, which started on 26 August and will run until 31 August 2024.

    “Following this, the team will compete in the J100 in Pretoria from 2 to 7 September, and then move on to the J200 in Durban from 9 to 14 September. The tour will conclude with the J300 in Durban, from 16 to 21 September 2024.

    “The boys’ team includes Allan Gatoto, Reuben De Klerk, Peter Ogunsakin, who is joining the team in Pretoria, and Ala Trifi, who will join the team in Durban, all under the guidance of Coach Mohamed Ramadhan.

    “The girls’ team, guided by Coach Jeanna Schmidt features Maria Badache, Donna Le Roux, Jahnie Van Zyl and Sasha Natalie Chimedza.

    Checks by our correspondent revealed that the talented Nigerian tennis sensation is already listed as one of the top seeds for the J100 event which starts next week.
