Prosper Okonkwo is just one win away from winning his first ever Junior ITF title when he plays against Daniel Adeleye in the J30 Abuja boys’ final.

The 15-year-old teenager is playing in his second ever J30 final after losing to Seun Ogunsakin in the J30 Abuja event a few months ago.

After a nervy match against Jeremiah Benjamin in the quarterfinal, Okonkwo battled Ezekiel Azi in the semis and rightly earned his place in the event’s finale.

The Abuja-based youngster now has to get past Daniel, the tournament’s number one seed, and Nigeria’s highest-ranked junior player on the ITF ranking, if he must land his first piece of Junior ITF silverware.

    Ohunene Yakubu

Meanwhile, in the girls’ Singles events, Ohunene Yakubu is up against Alisha Ndukwu in what will be their first ever match against each other.

Yakubu, 16, is Nigeria’s number one female junior tennis player, and will be playing her fourth girls’ Singles final in 2024 when she comes up against Ndukwu, the tournament’s number two seed.

Both boys’ and girls’ Singles final matches are as promising as they are enticing as all four players play entertaining tennis.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep all our readers updated on the latest developments from the finale of the event which holds on Sunday, 9 June, 2024.
