LLTC Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign For Ex-Tennis Star Tanya Okpala

The Lagos Lawn Tennis Club (LLTC), Onikan, Lagos, has kickstarted a fundraising campaign for ex-tennis star, Tanya Okpala.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that this intervention is coming on the heels of the recent viral video of the former national champion where she was seen begging for food.

Even though the Anambra State Government already took custody of the former US-based tennis star through the Ministry of Women Affairs, the LLTC is reportedly working on raising more funds for their ‘golden girl’.

In a letter signed by Mr. Temitope Abere, the President of the LLTC the Past VP, EbIsa Rewane, the club is reaching out to all her members to kindly make donations to ensure the rehabilitation of one of their old members.

The letter reads:

Subject: Urgent Appeal for Support: Rehabilitation of Tatya Okpala

Dear Esteemed President,

I was deeply moved and saddened by the distressing news circulating on social media regarding the current situation of one of our old members chidren Tatya Okpala, often regarded as one of LLTC’s ‘golden children’. Memories of her, her sister, and their warm, friendly parents flood my mind as they were integral parts of our club, virtually growing up within its nurturing environment. Witnessing the hardships life has inflicted upon Tatya was truly heart-wrenching.

However, amidst this adversity, I found solace in the swift and commendable response from the Anambra State Government and the compassionate actions of the First Lady, Mrs. Soludo. Their dedication to assisting Tatya’s plight deserves our utmost admiration and support.

In light of this, I propose that our club initiates a fundraising campaign to contribute to Tatya’s rehabilitation efforts. I humbly request your endorsement by officially disseminating this initiative to all our members and groups platforms. Together, we can make a tangible difference in Tatya’s life during her time of need.

I have personally pledged an initial sum of 250,000 naira(in the first instance) towards this cause and urge fellow members to contribute whatever they can afford. Every donation, no matter the size, will significantly impact Tatya’s journey towards recovery.
