2024 UTME: Nigerian Tennis Player Bags N14m Scholarship

Fatimah Wuraola has been awarded a scholarship to study Software Engineering at the prestigious Pan-Atlantic University after getting an outstanding score in her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Recall that Nigeria Tennis Live reported the giant strides of the Ilorin, Kwara-State based youngster after she scored 351 in the 2024 UTME.

Her story became a sensation in the Nigerian tennis space and the teenage tennis player applied for a scholarship at the Pan Atlantic University where she will now be resuming as a student.

After receiving the news about the scholarship, the 19-year-old Nigerian tennis player stated that it was an unbelievable piece of news.

“I was very excited. It was almost unbelievable because I wasn’t expecting such an outcome from something that I stumbled upon,” an elated Wuraola told Nigeria Tennis Live.

“It (the scholarship opportunity) was sent to a school group so I decided to give it a try,” she added.

She further revealed that she went through interviews alongside many other applicants before she was chosen for the award.

“All these great things have happened, not because I’m extra special or anything, but because of God’s blessings in my life. So I give thanks to Him.

“They gave me the scholarship because of my academic performance, passion for education and my moral behavior during the interviews. I’m a bit nervous but excited too,” Mr. Wuraola told our correspondent.

Her dad, Majeed Wuraola, was super excited for his daughter’s scholarship news, as he shared the new development with Nigeria Tennis Live.

He said: “I will like to inform you that my daughter – Wuraola Fatima has been given scholarship at PAU”.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the youngster who will be studying Software Engineering for the next four years is on an annual scholarship of N3.5m which will amount to about N14million over the period for which the scholarship will last as long as she is able to maintain a certain GP.

Our correspondent gathered that the player has begun preparations as she is likely to resume at the institution in the coming weeks.
