Organizers of the ASF Open Tennis Championship may have started plans to ensure the competition is held early in 2024 after the initial disappointment.

Recall that the competition, initially billed to hold from Thursday, 23 November, 2023, was rescheduled at the last minute owing to a number of unresolved issues.

Tennis officials, players, administrators and the entire tennis body in Nigeria was stunned by the situation, and it raised a lot of eyebrows.

Consequently, an apology letter was written to the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) and the players, about the anomalies experienced during this period.

The organizers of the competition, thereafter, informed that plans were already in place to ensure that the much anticipated tournament for which players were hugely disappointed, will now hold as planned.

Nigeria Tennis Live scoops have it that the competition is likely to make a comeback early in 2024, even though the precise date is yet to be announced.

But sources say there are chances the ASF Open may hold within the first quarter of 2024, as the organizers are reportedly desperate to get the NTF’s approval for the competition.

Nigerian tennis players will definitely be delighted about this news when the new date is announced as it will add to their tournaments for the year.

They will also be looking forward to the doubling of the prize money the organizers promised to atone for the postponement of the competition from its initial date.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the organizers of the ASF Open and update our readers as well as the players about the new dates for the event.
