Oyinlomo Quadre and Oiza Yakubu will go neck to neck to secure a place in the semifinal of the ongoing Rainoil Tennis Open Championship.

The pair who happen to be two of Nigeria’s finest young female tennis players will be hoping to secure a semis berth at the expense of each other, but the better player will carry the day.

Returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Quadre has been nothing but splendid in the matches she has played in so far, winning in two clean sets, without as much as dropping a set.

The Nigeria Slam winner defeated Rebecca Ekpenyong 4-0, 4-0 to set up a mouthwatering clash against the elder Yakubu sister as Ohunene, the younger Yakubu lost out in the second round.

Oiza on the other hand, was made to fight for her second round qualification as she made a couple of unforced errors in her first match, but she bounced back in the second round and made light her match against Blessing Otu.

The southpaw player ranked 1000th in world juniors defeated Otu 4-1, 4-0 to face Quadre in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.

Nigeria Tennis Live reports that the match is delicately poised as it features a stern battle between a ferocious forehand from the right and another from the left.

Spectators at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos, will surely be treated to a morning dose of beautiful tennis action when both players take to court today.

Nigeria Tennis Live will also be on ground to provide coverage for the match, and others in the competition which pays N6.12million in prize money and climaxes on Saturday, 11 December.
