    AJC Qualifiers: Phenomenal Ogunshakin Leads Nigeria To Secure 3rd Place After Defeat Of Mali

    Team Nigeria has secured third position at the just concluded 12 & Unders African Junior Tennis Championship in Cotonou, Benin Republic, after their defeat of Mali on Sunday.

    The youngsters led by the phenomenal Seun Ogunshakin coasted to victory in the two straight sets of 6-3, 6-2 in the first Singles match but Precious Ikeuba could not continue the momentum in the second set as he crashed to a 3-6, 4-6 defeat.

    But the relentless Ogunshakin partnered Mohammed Idris in the Doubles encounter to hand Mali a second defeat with a 6-2, 7-5 and ensure that Team Nigeria returns home with a third place place.

    Coach Abdulmumin Babalola would be proud of his wards’ performance after his first full outing with the Nigerian side as a tactician.

    Nigeria Tennis Live will try to speak with the legendary tennis on return from the tournament.

    The players are expected to return on Monday, 11 March, after their eventful outing.
