The Nigerian team to the just concluded Nairobi Open in Nairobi, Kenya, have given a good account of themselves after Alex Adewale and Wasiu Yusuf won the doubles final of the competition.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the pair put up some virtuoso performance to see off Evans Maripa and Novatus Temba from South Africa and Tanzania respectively, the tournament’s favourites, in two incomplete sets.

The Nigerian brothers had won the first set 6-2 and were leading 4-2 in the second set before their opponents gave up in the encounter which was more like a revenge for Alex.

In the singles final between the Nigerian who was a first round player at the US Open several years ago and the world’s number 40 ranked star, Alex fell short of the expectation which preceded the encounter.

He could not make it three Futures win back to back, as he fell in two straight sets of 6-1, 6-0 to the South African.

But he made up for this in the doubles as he combined perfectly with Wasiu to ensure Nigeria left Kenya with a gold medal to their names.

The players are expected to return to the country any moment from now as the tournament ended in Nairobi, Kenya today.
