Lagos Open: Coach Ifeanyi Assures Of Impeccable Performance From Atseye, Enosoregbe

Coach Ifeanyi Onyenwenu has spoken glowingly about the chances of his players, Clifford Enosoregbe and Henry Atseye, to turn heads at the ongoing Lagos Open Tennis International Championships.

Henry Atseye, arguably Nigeria’s most impressive player at the ongoing tournament, has been the cynosure of all eyes with his eye-popping displays on the court.

And his coach, who appears unsurprised, noted that Nigerians and tennis followers can even expect more from the one-handed backhand player who’s on the ascendancy.

He expressed a huge confidence that what tennis enthusiasts inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, venue of the ITF Circuit are seeing, is a far cry from what the player is capable of producing on his day.

When asked how prepared his players were for the competition, he told our correspondent that: “I think my players are really ready for this tournament as I really worked with them on the areas of attacking their opponent.”

Even though most people have been more fascinated by Atseye’s performance, the coach believes that he has worked extensively with him and Enosoregbe, enough for them to make things happen in Lagos.

“You know that one cannot be too prepared, especially for a tournament of this magnitude. So, we had to do a bit more drills ahead of the competition.

“For Clifford, I worked more on on his confidence as a baseline player while I worked more on Henry Atseye volley.

“I’m sure they will get to the final of the tournament,” Coach Ifeanyi enthused.

With both players yearning for slots in the next round of the championship today, all eyes will be on the coach and his wards as Nigeria hopes to have more players advance to the next phase of the competition.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring the players’ performance and report the results as the competition reaches its climax.
