Legendary Nigerian tennis player, Abdulmumin Babalola will trade tackle with youngster Sylvester Emmanuel in one of the semi final matches at the ongoing Vemp Open Tennis Championship in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital.

The ageless tennis star who captained Team Nigeria to the Davis Cup in Kenya a few months ago, had lost the final of the 40th edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open to the youngster who was winning it for the first time ever.

Babalola captained Team Nigeria to the 2018 Davis Cup Championship in Kenya.

Babalola had taken the first set but was overpowered by the highly spirited former Nigerian number one, who rallied back to win the match in a dramatic fashion. The man fondly called Monaco will want to avoid same incident when he takes to court against the Benue-born player today.

Nigerian Tennis Live gathered also, that Sunday Emmanuel the giant killer, will be playing in the Vemp Open semis against number one player, Joseph Imeh, after dismissing former national champion, Henry Atseye in the final set of their match.

Emmanuel who was also responsible for the exit of Thomas Otu, another former champion, will seek to make it the third top player to be sent packing within the space of one week.

In the female category, Sarah Adegoke continues with her dominance in the Women’s Singles as she meets Lovetth Donatus in the semis while Christie Agugbom spars against doubles partner, Blessing Samuel in the second semi final clash.

Babalola will partner agelong Doubles ally, Shehu Lawal to battle Clifford Enosoregbe and Sylvester in the Men’s Doubles final while the pair of Agugbom and Samuel will wrestle Patience Onebamhoin and Oluchi Ozurumba for the Women’s Doubles title.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep up with the tournament and report the latest development from the tournament to our esteemed followers.
