    Serena, Iye Onoja Advance To Semis Of SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championship

    Iye Onoja  from Abuja leads the title chase in the Girls’ 14 and was very decisive in her match against Peace Obaduru from Lagos who she beat 9-1 to qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championship.
    The other seeded players who played through to the semifinals in the category are Serena Teluwo from Lagos, Mary Udofa from Kogi and Blessing Otu from Lagos.


    Nigerian Tennis Live gathered that the girls’ 14 are among the top four seeds in the eight events of the ongoing competition who avoided upsets to get to the quarterfinals.

    Iye Onoja leads the race for a title chase in the girls’ 14 category.

    In the Girls’ 16, Favour Moses from Kaduna and Omolade Aderemi from Ondo who played in the finals of the CBN Junior Tennis Championship two months ago, kept their hopes of a rematch alive.

    Moses beat Rachel Emmanuel from Lagos 6-2 while Aderemi overpowered Omoyemi Oguntoye 9-1. The No. 1 seed, Toyin Asogba eliminated Deborah Abiodun 9-4 while the fourth seed, Omolayo Bamidele, whitewashed Fatima Ganiyu from Oyo 9-0.

    Boys’ 14 No 1 seed, Daniel Adeleye from Ekiti stayed on course to defend his title when he bested Lucky Hileja from Rivers 9-1 but will have to overcome his nemesis, Sadiq Kushimo from Ogun State, in the semifinals.

    Kushimo eliminated Sunday Ameh from Lagos 9-4 to progress. Joshua Maxwell, the fourth seed  from Rivers and Michael Akinmusere from Oyo, the second seed, are also on course.

    All the quarterfinal matches are scheduled to start at 10 am Thursday at the National Stadium Tennis Centre in Lagos.
