Nigerians will have to wait a little longer before they can set their sights on Nduka Odizor after the cancelation of his planned tennis clinic in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

The man affectionately referred to as ‘The Duke’ had scheduled a three-day tennis clinic from 15-17 August, 2024, inside the tennis section of the Ikoyi Club 1938.

According to reports, he was billed to attend the event with some of Nigeria’s biggest names in tennis, including Rolake Olagbegi, Nigeria’s tennis queen.

However, recent developments have necessitated a change of plan and a cancelation of the tennis clinic for youngsters at the tennis section of the club.

In a message made available to Nigeria Tennis Live last weekend, ‘The Duke’ noted that the uproar in Nigeria necessitated the cancelation of the tennis clinic.

    Nduka Odizor

Odizor wrote: “I regret to inform you today that ongoing demonstrations/protests in Nigeria and the security concerns thereof has necessitated the cancellation of the upcoming Ikoyi club tennis club.

“Some of my contacts in higher governmental positions have cautioned hosting a tennis clinic while the country is in an uproar.

“I will still be going to Nigeria to see my family and to attend the funeral for William Ogene’s father. The condition that caused this cancellation is above and beyond my control.

“Kindly accept my sincere for any inconvenience caused”.

The news about this cancelation would have come with a huge disappointment for a lot of Nigerian tennis enthusiasts and followers who would have been itching to have a one-on-one with the Nigerian tennis great.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep our readers updated on the developments surrounding the tennis clinic, should a new date emerge.
