W15 Monastir: Oyinlomo Quadre Crushes Italian Player To Reach R2

Oyinlomo Quadre has just won her first points on the WTA tour for the year 2024 after defeating her first opponent at the W15 Monastir event in Tunisia.

The former African number one female junior tennis player who was unarguably Nigeria’s best player at the recent Billie Jean King Cup event in Kenya, left no stone unturned during the encounter against Maddalena Giordano.

Quadre, who had been training and playing tournaments in France before leaving for Tunisia, was quite clinical against the Italian (WTA 1071), winning in two straight sets of 6-1, 6-1.

The 21-year-old African Games Silver Medalist will be looking forward to consolidate on her points when she plays the second round of the competition on Wednesday, 31 August, 2024.

Up next for her today is her round of 16 Doubles match where she will be partnering Diana Maria Mihail from Romania to take on the pair of Gala Arangio from Argentina and Ella Simmons from Australia.

Nigerians will be hoping for their star girl to go as far as possible in the W15 event and put her and Nigeria steadily on the world map.
