Udoffa Clashes With Aiyegbusi, As Oparaoji Battles Iloputa In VEMP Open Q/Final Ties (Full Result/Fixtures)

Mary Udoffa will have to play some of her best tennis if she must upset Anu Aiyegbusi, the top seed at the ongoing VEMP Open National Tennis Tournament in Abuja.

The Kogi-born youngster who has been one of the most consistent players over the past few years, cruised past veteran Omotayo Osewa in the second round of the competition, will have to overpower Ayegbusi for a place in the semifinals of the national event.

A win for Udoffa will mark a huge upset at the ongoing tournament as her opponent remains one of the players to beat at this year’s event.

Also, Khadijat Mohammed, the tournament’s number two seed, will have to best Patience Onebamhion when they clash in the quarterfinal of the competition, if she must increase her chances of winning back to back national championship.

In the Men’s Singles event, David Ekpenyong is still on course to win his first ever VEMP Open tournament as he will take on Michael Emmanuel in the quarterfinal match while defending champion, Uche Oparaoji will seek to defeat Ikechukwu Iloputa for a spot in the last four of the tournament.

Daniel Adeleye, who has been on a roll since the commencement of the tournament has a date with Musa Mohammed to reach the semis of the competition just as Canice Abua is keeping his hopes alive for a semis berth when he takes on Prosper Okonkwo in the other quarterfinal match.

Meanwhile, the Doubles matches serves off on Wednesday, 22 May, 2024, as the competition nears its finale where the men are separated from the boys.
