U-16 AJC: Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Dazzles In Tunisia, Lands In Singles Quarterfinal, Doubles Semis
While her Nigerian counterparts were battling for a place in the main draws of the ongoing Tombim Abuja Open, Oyinlomo Quadre was making the country proud in far away Tunisia.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that Quadre who has not had a particularly great start to the new tennis season, has been terrific at the ongoing U-16 African Junior Tennis Championship in Tunisia, where she’s Nigeria’s only representative.
Our correspondent gathered that she defeated Maria Charl from Egypt to advance to the quarterfinals from the second round in two straight sets of 6-2, 6-2 while she partnered Okutoyi Angela to inflict a 6-4, 6-2 loss to her opponents to book a place in the semis of the team event.
As things stand now, Quadre, ranked among the top juniors in the world, is poised to book her place in the semis of the Singles when she tackles Jeribi Gheida from Tunisia.
And for a place in the Doubles final, Quadre and Angela will have to be at their very best when they take on the Moroccan duo of Sara Akid and Yasmine Kabbaj.
Having played against the North Africans on a couple of occasions, the Nigerian teenager may fancy her chances against her opponents whom she stands a good chance of defeating.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep up tabs with her performance in Tunisia and update our esteemed followers as she progresses.
