Tunisia Futures: Sylvester Knocks Out Italian Player, Takes On Another In 2nd Qualifying Game

In his second qualifying game at the Tunisia 33 Futures in Monastir, Tunisia, Nigeria’s Sylvester Emmanuel will be playing against Luca Potenza, a tough Italian opponent to stand a chance of featuring in the Main Draw of the tournament.

The Nigerian number two player who won the two recent national tournaments in the country could not make it beyond the second qualifying game of last week’s Futures, but has since bounced back from the ankle injury to make it to the second round.

Sylvester Emmanuel has a serious task ahead of him in the match against the experienced Italian.

In the first round match in the qualifying series, Sylvester got the better of Luca Potenza, another Italian player, in the final set. The match ended 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-2, as he hopes to get into the final qualifying round.

As things stand now, the Davis Cup player is just two wins away from qualifying for the Main Draw of the tournament which appears to have attracted major foreign players as the $15,000 tournament kicks off on Monday, 24 September.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep tabs on the player and report his progress in the competition as the tournament comes alive.
