TPPA Announces Dates, States For 2024 Regional UTR Championship
The Tennis Players Parents Association (TPPA) has announced the commencement of its 2024 Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) championship, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.
The annual event which culminates in a nationals started in 2023, with a lot of players from different parts of Nigeria gaining invaluable UTR points after competing in their different regions.
And after the first edition which was met with massive positive reviews and commendations, the TPPA is set for the second edition of the competition, this time, extending it to more than 10 States across different regions of the country.

Mrs. Jumoke Yakubu, the association’s secretary, informed Nigeria Tennis Live that Abeokuta, Jos, Kano, Port Harcourt, Ilorin and Benin will be hosting the TPPA-UTR regionals this year.
This is in addition to Lagos, Ibadan, Uyo, Minna, Owerri and FCT which hosted the competition in 2023 before the elaborate national event held in 2024 inside the tennis section of the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.
For each of the regions, however, the dates vary, as our correspondent was made to understand.
While the Abeokuta and Lagos centres will serve off on 17 and end on 21 December, the Ibadan region will play from 14-17 of the same month.
Benin, Port Harcourt, Ilorin and Jos regions all fall within the same date as they will all hold the competition from 19-21 December, 2024.

Meanwhile, In Uyo, the competition will take centre stage from 18-20 December just as FCT and Owerri centre players will slug it out on the courts from 16-18 December.
Minna and Kano centres will serve off the championship on 20 and 18 December respectively, and both end on 22 December.
Thousands of tennis youngsters are expected to participate in the U-12, 14 & 16 categories of the UTR event across different regions while the Youth category will be permitted only in the Lagos end of the regionals.
Winners from each of the regions and the most valuable players will be invited to the nationals which will be held at a date to be announced after the regionals.
