Two Nigerian brothers will be at war on today when the Tombim Abuja Open serves off inside the Package ‘B’ of the National Stadium, Abuja.

The Nigerian duo of Henry Atseye and Thomas Otu, both past winners of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Open, will square up against each other in one of the all-Nigerian matches of the tournament’s Day 1 fixtures.

According to the order of play obtained by Naija Tennis Special, the biggest match of the day yet for any Nigerian is the first match between Emmanuel Idoko and Brayden Schnur from Canada.

Atseye and Otu will slug it out today in a battle of former champions

Idoko, a wild card entrant from Nigeria, will square up against the tournament’s number two seed and will fancy his chances of upsetting his more experienced opponent.

Also, Imeh Joseph will lock horns with Zimbabwe’s Mark Fynn while Clifford Enosoregbe will seek to consolidate on his 2016 Governor’s Cup performance when he clashes with Joe Cooper from Britain.

In the other all-Nigerian battle inside the tennis court today, Imeh and Christian Paul will have to be at their best to usurp the pair of Enosoregbe and Atseye in a doubles fixture which promises to be enticing.

Joseph Edili, Aliyu Shehu and Sylvester Emmanuel are the other Nigerian players who will be in action for the doubles fixtures today.

The first leg of the ITF Futures is expected to reach its crescendo on Sunday, May 7 when another pro-circuit championship is expected to commence in Abuja.
