Stavanger ITF: Nigeria’s Abayomi, Jebutu, Asogba Battle Unseeded Players In Norway
For the first time in 2020, the Nigerian trio of Abayomi Phillips, Emmanuel Jebutu and Toyin Asogba will be playing at the Junior ITF Circuit in Stavanger, Norway.
The Nigerian youngsters who have been in the country since Friday last week, are in Norway as part of a Euro tour that will see them visit Denmark and Sweden as well.
Phillips, Nigeria’s number one junior player is the tournament’s number two seed, and will be opening his account today, against Ervin Mesic of Denmark in one of the late matches slated for court 8.
The Nigerian youngster is touted as one of the biggest talents of his generation, and has already shown flashes of his ability, especially in the 2019 tennis season.
Alongside Phillips, Emmanuel Jebutu, another top Nigerian junior player is also in action on Monday, as the Nigerian contingent plan a swoop of honors in Europe.
Jebutu kicks off his campaign with a clash against Sweden’s Adrian Luddeckens on Court 7 in one of the early matches on Monday.
Our correspondent gathered that Asogba will take up Clara Cwajgenbaum from New Caledonia in one of the first matches taking place on Court 6.
In all, the Nigerian players will be hoping to continue their tennis development with more tennis competitions across the globe.
