Senegal ITF Futures: Nigeria’s Lovett Defeats British Player To Advance In Qualifiers

Donatus Lovett, one of the four female Nigerian players at the ongoing Women ITF Futures in Senegal, has progressed to the next round of the qualifying series of the pro-circuit.

Nigerian Tennis Live checks on the official ITF website revealed that the Nigerian pretty Lovett squeezed her way past the Britain’s M J Changwereza in the final set, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 in a frantic end to the game.

Lovett is just a game away from making it to the Main Draws of the ITF pro-circuit in Senegal.

With this result, Lovett stands a chance of making it to the Main Draw of the $25,000 ITF championship which serves off on Monday, 13 November, if she defeats Janina Geiss from Germany in the second leg.

The other Nigerians in the tournament, Sarah Adegoke, Aminat Quadri and Oyinlomo Quadre will also have to do well with their games and progress beyond the first stage of the qualifying rounds and make it to the Main Draws.

If they do well and progress to the Main Draws, it will further help their confidence for upcoming tournaments; especially the fast approaching national championships and the ongoing NCC Tennis League.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring events from the West African country and publish updates on the Nigerians’ progress.
