SCOOP: Proposed National Tournament To Be Postponed As Dala, Rainoil Opens Get Date

The proposed Brains and Hammers national tournament initially scheduled to hold immediately after the Lagos Open International Tennis Championships, has been postponed.

Nigerian Tennis Live gathered from reliable sources that the date for the tournament will be communicated soon but it was gathered that it will hold sometime in January as the remaining part of the year is already filled with activities.

Legendary Abdulmumin Babalola is expected to play in the other national tournaments organized for the remaining parts of the year.

“The tournament is not likely to hold before the end of this year. A date for it will be made public soon, but I believe it should be sometime in January,” the impeccable source who does not want to be mentioned said.

Nigerian Tennis Live was also reliably informed that dates the annual Dala Hard Court tournament and the second edition of the Rainoil Clay competition have been confirmed.

According to our informant, “The Rainoil Championship will hold in November 12-17 while the qualifying matches for the Dala Hard court competition will hold from November 16-18, while the main draw will hold from 19-24.”

These back-to-back tournaments will hold in between the NCC Tennis League which has already kicked off.

Efforts to speak with the Engr. Dayo Akindoju, the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) president for confirmation of the dates, proved futile, as calls put across to him were not picked as at press time.
