SCOOP: Nigeria Set To Have Three No. 1 Players In New National Rankings
Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered that there are chances the new national rankings will feature three female players with the same number of points.
Three different players have won the last three national competitions on offer and this has thrown up the national rankings for an interesting match up.
Khadijat Mohammed won Women’s Singles at the Dala Hard Court championship in Kano in 2023, in 2024, Blessing Omotaayo copped the DavNotch title while Aanu Ayegbusi took the Vemp Open championship.

And in the yet-to-be-released national rankings, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered that the three players concurrently have the same number of points on top of the log.
However, by virtue of her name’s spelling, Aanu Ayegbusi is likely to be announced as Nigeria’s new number one female tennis player.

Blessing and Khadijat will both occupy the subsequent spots in the top three, albeit with the same number of points as the player on top of the log.
In the Men’s rankings, though, David Ekpenyong is expected to maintain his lead after winning the two national titles in 2024, despite being US-based.
As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent had not caught a glimpse of the new rankings but this will be published as soon as it is made official.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep our readers updated on the national ranking as the 2024 tennis season gradually winds down.
