The Nigerian pair of Alex Adewale and Wasiu Yusuf have been dumped out of the Nairobi Open ITF Wheelchair Tennis Championship in Kenya, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered.

Reports gathered by our correspondent show that the tournament’s number three and four seeds respectively, did not just lose without putting up a fight, they were gallant in defeat, especially Adewale.

In his semis match against eventual winner Fouad Boughnim from Morocco, Adewale wrestled and took the match to the final set with the game ending in an unprecedented tie breaker which the Nigerian lost.

The match would later end 1-4, 4-0, 4-10 in favour of the Moroccan player as the Nigerian top seed was bundled out of the competition.

Wasiu on the other hand, could not withstand the firepower of Said Humam who won in straight sets of 4-2, 4-0 to ensure a proper routing of the Nigerian representatives at the competition.

The Nigerian player are still progressing in their quest to gain a spot to play at the 2020 Paralympics, a tournament which will further cement our standing as one of the top wheelchair tennis countries on the African continent.

Nigeria Tennis Live promises to continue with all the updates on Nigeria’s preparations ahead of all the competitions ahead of the players.
