Roseline Nana Pounds Top Seed To Win First U-12 Title In Canada

Nigeria’s youngster, Roseline Nana, was at her best during a Grade 3 U-12 Championship in Canada, where she caused some unprecedented upsets.

The youngster who does not clock ten until 14 July, defeated the tournament’s number, three and number one seeds en route to winning her first U-12 competition in Canada.

Nana started the competition by defeating Eya Louati 6-0, 6-0 before seeing off the tournament’s number four seed, Eva Brisson with another bagel to reach the semifinal of the event.

The former Lagos-based talented player would ensure a place in the final of the competition by fighting off the number one seed, Nelly Campagna, 6-1, 6-1.

Ava Dancik, a Wild Card entrant and the number three seed of the tournament, was the only hinderance between Nana and her first U-12 competition, and the Naija girl ensured she removed the hinderance and land her trophy. She won 6-0, 6-0 result.

At the end of the competition, the Nigerian youngster won three matches without as much as dropping a game while dropping only two games all week.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that she is the least ranked and youngest player in the championship and was a beauty to behold throughout the competition.

According to her dad, Lucky Nana, who has been with her in Canada: “The last tournament where she lost in the main draw is level 4; while this tournament is level 3.

“Level 4 is the highest level in the province; same as the Quebec Championship coming up in few days and I hope she gives a good account of herself.”
