Nigeria’s number one female tennis player, Oyinlomo Quadre, got the better of Blessing Samuel, one of her tennis idols, to move within inches of winning a third consecutive national title.
The youngster bested Blessing in two clear sets of 6-1, 6-1 in their Rainoil Tennis Open Championship semifinal clash to land in her second national final in less than three weeks.
Quadre, 16, is yet to lose a set in the national competitions she’s played this year, and is poised to continue her impeccable run of form when she plays in the finals of the N5.1million prize money event on Sunday.
While observers and tennis followers will be rooting for her, she will be in contention with former Nigerian number one and vastly experienced tennis player, coach and umpire, Christie Agugbom.
Agugbom fought really hard against in form Aanu Ayegbusi before winning in two sets, and will have to fight even harder when she takes on the relentless Quadre.
Nigeria Tennis Live promises to bring all the updates from the match to the reach of our followers scattered across the world.
