Rainoil Open Tennis: Marylove Gets Wild Card To Play Main Draw As Quadre Starts As Top Seed
Marylove Edwards will be playing the Rainoil Open Tennis Championship which kicks off on Monday, 2 December, Nigeria Tennis Live can authoritatively report.
The youngster who has performed exceedingly well in junior ITF competitions in recent weeks is listed in the main draw of the tournament as one of the players to jostle for the national title.
Edwards, now ranked 593 in the world junior rankings, is making a return to the national scene after about two years of absence due to her exploits on the circuit.
Oyinlomo Quadre, the country’s number one female tennis player, is the top seed for the competition after winning the last two national tournaments.
She is presently the number four best junior player on the African continent, and among the top 200 junior players in the world.
Both junior stars are delicately poised to stamp their feet on the national scene with bookmakers tipping the both of them to shine at the competition.
Among other players expected to shine is Aanu Ayegbusi, the present Nigerian number two player, who’s been on an upwards rise over the past few years.
The Women Singles event was yet to kick off as at Monday when this report was made.
