Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre was the Florida International University’s anchor on their way to retaining their Conference USA Women’s Tennis title over the weekend

The African Games silver medalist who has been in a brilliant form since recovering from the illness that slowed her down in Ghana won the match that confirmed FIU Women’s Tennis as the champions of the C-USA.

This win means Quadre and her colleagues have now won the title for the second consecutive year after the former Nigerian number one led them to the title on 2023, on her way to winning multiple awards as well.

Quadre leads the list of Nigerian players who were at their very best at different competitions they participated in over the weekend.

Daniel Adeleye, Nigeria’s top junior player on the Junior ITF ranking, also reached his third consecutive final at a J30 event, but he lost to Francky Hoimian from Côte d’Ivoire.

Adeleye who had beaten his Ivorian opponent in the two finals they played at the two legs of the J30 Accra events could not get past Hoimian at the J30 Abidjan.

“Here’s to coming back even stronger next time!”

And in Algeria, Seun Ogunsakin, one of Nigeria’s outstanding juniors, was a silver medalist at the African Junior Championship (AJC).

The talented Ekiti boy could not progress in his Singles match but he atoned for that by doing even better in his Doubles event and went all the way to the final of the event.
