Quadre On Course For 4th Consecutive National Title As Vemp Open Action Kicks Off In Abuja

Oyinlomo Quadre, Nigeria’s number one female tennis player, will be gunning for her fourth consecutive national title when she takes to the court today for her opening Vemp Open National Championship.

The youngster who has won all the national tournaments available this year, is a sure bet to add the Vemp Open title to her already intimidating cabinet of trophies.

To kick start her campaign in Abuja, she takes on lucky loser Fola Ogunshola, in a match which she is believed to have won before hitting the racket.

In other matches, Abu Rose takes on legendary Christie Agugbom while defending champion, Blessing Samuel, tackles Omotayo Osewa, a qualifier.

Sylvester Emmanuel and Joseph Imeh are also expected to challenge for the men’s singles title at the competition which pays over N4million in prize money.

Emmanuel, popularly called Major, is sure to finish 2019 as Nigeria’s number one, but he’ll still face stiff competition from Imeh, for the title.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep our readers up to date with the latest results and events from the weeklong competition.
