Nigeria’s Seun Ogunsakin will be playing his first ever J100 semifinal match after defeating the J100 Pretoria number three seed in the quarterfinals of the event.

The highest ranked Nigerian junior player on the ITF ratings is listed among eight players supported by the Grand Slam Player Development Program (GSPDP), CAT and the International Tennis Federation to play three Junior ITF events in South Africa.

And in the first week of the tournament in Pretoria, South Africa, the Nigerian tennis starlet has fought his way to the semifinal of the competition.

The 6-3, 6-2 win by the Nigerian sets him up against Burundi’s Allan Gatoto, the number one seed at the J100 Pretoria event, which coincidentally, is a repeat of their J60 final in Zimbabwe a few weeks ago, which Ogunsakin lost.

At the J60 Harare event in Zimbabwe, the Burundian defeated his Nigerian counterpart 6-0, 6-3, to win the J60 event, but the Nigerian will be hoping to have a better outing when they meet in Pretoria on Thursday, 5 September, 2024.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the activities of the youngster and report every development to our teeming audience scattered across the globe.
