OFFICIAL! NTF Releases List Of Team Nigeria To 2024 Billie Jean King Cup

Nigeria Tennis Live has obtained the list of Nigerian players who will be representing the country at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup event in Kenya.

The Nigerian team will be competing in Group III of the Africa Zone and will be up against hosts Kenya and ten other countries during the week-long event in Nairobi, Kenya holding from 10-15 June.

Namibia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Botswana, Uganda, South Africa, Madagascar, Mauritius and Tunisia are the other countries competing for promotion from Group III of the event.

Team Nigeria emerged fifth at the last outing in Kenya after defeating Ghana in the play-off and will be playing the tournament for the fourth year.

During a brief chat with the Makpa Aliyu, Secretary of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) on Friday in Abuja, Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the federation has concluded on the list of players being invited to represent the country.

The players are all based outside the country, and they include: Divine Nweke who plays and lives in Denmark; Toyin Asogba who has been training and playing tournaments in France for two months; Adesuwa Osabuohien, who lives in the United States and Oyinlomo Quadre, who is also based in the United States.

One of the players who was conspicuously missing from the list is US-based Nigerian number one female tennis player, Marylove Edwards, but our correspondent could not ascertain why she was dropped from the team.

The team is expected to regroup in Kenya on Saturday, 8 June as some of the team members are likely to leave Nigeria on Friday, 7 June, 2024, for the event which will attract some of the best talents from across Africa.
