NTF Makes History As J60 Abuja Debuts In Nigeria

The tennis section of the National Stadium in Abuja will be buzzing on Wednesday, 12 June, 2024, as Nigeria hosts a J60 Abuja for the very first time.

While this is hardly a thing to celebrate as other African countries are already organizing J100, J200 events, Nigerian players will be most grateful for the opportunity to play this tournament right in their country.

For players who are playing their first ever Junior ITF events, it would also be an opportunity to move further upwards on the rankings which will come after the competition.

Daniel Adeleye and Ohunene Yakubu, as expected, lead the park in the boys’ and girls’ Singles draw as other players will be on the look out to take points off them.

Of all the five Junior ITF titles he has won, Adeleye has never landed a J60 title and having to play it in his own country is sure to serve as a motivation for the highest ranked Nigerian player in the Junior ITF ranking.

Also, Tunisia-based Yakubu, who won the J30 Abuja event held last week, will be hoping to add to the two J30 titles she has won in 2024 by copping her first ever J60 title in front of her home crowd.
