NTF Gives Update On Davis Cup, Lists Two Players Who Are Likely To Be On The List

Nigerian Tennis Live can authoritatively report that Abdulmumuni Babalola will lead Team Nigeria to Egypt for the 2018 edition of Davis Cup Team tournament.
This medium had reported some days ago, that the team will go into a close camping with Rotimi Akinloye, the head of Nigeria Tennis Federation, (NTF), stating vividly that the players to prosecute the tournament with had yet to be decided.
He told our correspondent that the list of players to represent Nigeria at the team competition would be communicated this weekend, and when Nigerian Tennis Live called to confirm the list on Saturday, the coach made some revelations.
Team Nigeria will be captained by the ageless Abdulmumuni Babalola.
“Right now, the team is yet to be decided by the federation because we are still checking out some players but the likes of Abdulmumuni Babalola and Joseph Imeh are almost sure for the competition because of their experience on clay.
“Players like Sunday Emmanuel, Christian Paul, and two others are also being considered for a place in the team so that we have a really strong squad,” Coach Akinloye said.

The veteran former non-playing Davis Cup captain further revealed when the full list would be released, noting also, that the players are sure to go into camp on 2 June.
He said: “By Monday, we should be able to release the final list. We are actually not particular about the ranking, but the ability of the players to play on clay.

“When we are done with the assessment of the players in camp, we shall feed you back on the final squad to Egypt.”
Imeh, Nigeria’s number one male player, will fancy his chances during the tournament, having only lost out in the finals of the inaugural edition of the Rainoil Tennis Championship which was played on clay court in Lagos.
