NTF Confirms National Tournaments For November/December
The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has confirmed two national tournaments for the remaining parts of the 2024 tennis season.
Nigeria Tennis Live had informed our esteemed readers that there were plans to have three tournaments before the end of the tennis year, and players had been looking forward to them.
And in a confirmation of that report, the Secretary General of the federation, Shammah Makpa, informed our correspondent that the tournaments will hold as scheduled.
However, only dates for two tournaments have been confirmed as the third competition has not been confirmed yet by the tennis federation.
According to information made available to Nigeria Tennis Live, the Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship and the Rainoil Tennis Open Championship which was rested in 2023, will be held before the end of the year.
Also, it almost confirms that the annual Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open Championship will not be holding this year, despite the junior event taking place a few weeks ago.
“The Dala tournament will take place from 15-22 November while the Rainoil tournament is from 9-15 December. At this moment, we cannot confirm the third tournament, but these two have been confirmed and I can assure you that they will be held in Kano and Lagos respectively,” Mr. Shamma told our correspondent.

Recall that one of the reasons the Rainoil Championship was not held in 2023 was because of a disagreement between players and the sponsors over prize money breakdown.
While it is believed that this impasse has been readily taken care of, Nigeria Tennis Live is not sure what the terms and conditions are for this new competition to be held.
However, we can confirm that the tournament will be held this year as duly noted by the Secretary of the tennis federation.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep all our readers updated on the latest developments ahead of the competition which is considered one of the biggest national events in Nigeria.
