Tennis spectators at the Port Harcourt Club inside the Old GRA in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were treated to some spectacular NNPC/SNEPCo sponsored junior tennis actions over the weekend.

Nigeria’s best junior tennis players from across the country stormed the venue to compete against one another at the NNPC/SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championship event.

Seun Ogunshakin, Ganiyu Mubarak, Seyi Ogunshakin, Onyekachi Ogumjiofor, Vanessa Inyang, Ndidi Osaji, Malcolm Osaji, among others, were the cynosure of all eyes with their performances which earned them trophies and prizes after the competition.

Judging from previous performances in the Boys 10 & Under, Malcolm Osaji was expected to win the competition as his friend and rival, Murewa Egbeyemi, was not in attendance at the competition, but he was a losing finalist to Chukwudubem Amasiani.

Malcom’s sister, Ndidi, would later make up for her brother’s loss by winning the Girls’12 & Under, as she left Vanessa Inyang, another Lagos-based player, gasping for breath in the entertaining finale.

Seyi Ogunshakin and Onyekachi Ogumjiofor battled for the Boys’12 & Under crown for the umpteenth time, and it fell, as predicted, to Ogumjiofor, the Oyo-based athlete.

For the Girls’14 & Under, Kadijat Mohammed pipped Benue state player, Mary Iorlumun to clinch the trophy while two giant killers Mubarak Ganiyu and Seun Ogunshakin thrilled the audience in their Boys’14 & Under finale. Oyo state-based Mubarak eventually stole the show with a beautiful win.

The youngsters may finally call it a day with tournaments in 2021 and possibly focus on their education and enjoy their break as they look forward to the year opening AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Junior Tennis Championship in January.

Nigeria Tennis Live will be the official media partners for the tournament which promises to showcase the best junior tennis youngsters across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
