The Nigerian trio of Venus Ubiebi, Christopher Bulus and Martins Abamu are part of the teams representing the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) at the forthcoming tennis tournament, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

Our correspondent gathered that the players who were upstarts of the Aces Tennis Academy, Lagos, will be playing for both the Men and Women’s teams in the tournament which kicks off in February.

Bulus who had been in the United States since early 2017 was joined in 2018 by Venus and Abamu; both of whom have been quickly integrated into the setting in the institution.

The information about the tournament was made public by Dan O’Connell, the Scholarship Coordinator and NMMI ladies tennis coach via a Facebook post where he revealed the date and venue of the tournament.

He wrote: “2019 tennis competition begins in February, with visits to Phoenix and Plano. The players are working hard. It will be another good season. Go Bronco’s!”

Recall that Bulus was one of the outstanding players the last time he participated in the tournament, where he helped his institution break a long term jinx.

Nigeria Tennis Live will monitor the Nigerians’ performance in the tournament and report their progress in the competition.
