Sylvester Emmanuel, Nigeria’s number one male tennis player, has revealed plans to go on a training tour of Europe as he prepares for the new tennis season, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered.

In an exclusive chat with our correspondent, the Benue-born tennis superstar revealed that he had been on holidays with his family and had been trying to relax after a hectic tennis season which ended with him clinching the elusive CBN Open title and the inaugural Vemp Open competition.

    • Sylvester Emmanuel says time for relaxation has ended, as he revealed he would be heading out to Europe for training ahead of the new tennis season.

The former Barcelona, Spain-based tennis player told Nigeria Tennis Live that his intention is to go to Europe for training, then commence competition.

“I shall be going to Europe for training and then start competing,” the former NCC Tennis League winner with Team Offikwu stated.

He added: “I’m just going there for practice and then return to Africa to start playing other tournaments.”

Asked what he thinks about the plans of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) ahead of the new tennis season, the inaugural winner of the Ikoyi Tennis Masters expressed his excitement with the latest reports coming from the secretariat.

“They are doing a really great job… this way, it’s gonna help lots of the kids in Nigeria because there will be lots of tournaments for them this year. It will definitely improve lots of the kids and help grow Nigerian tennis,” the man fondly referred to as Major offered.
