The involvement of Nigerian tennis stars in the Davis Cup Team tournament is going to clash with the annual Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open, and one player who is already ruing this is Christian Paul. He shall be representing Nigeria at the team championship in Kenya.
Since the history of CBN Open in Nigeria, this is arguably the first time the Davis Cup is clashing with the CBN Open, since it has been the major tournament from which players are selected to represent the country at the annual meet.

This year’s tournament will deprive Nigerian players the opportunity of participating at the tournament they had so waited for all year long.
And Christian Paul, one of Nigeria’s top players who will represent the country at the team event, is already unhappy about missing out on the tournament.
Nigerian Tennis Live correspondent decided to ask him how he felt about missing out on the competition which many Nigerians expect to herald a new season, and he replied: “really bad.”
The Nigerian players are presently training on clay court in Ibadan where they are putting finishing touches on their preparations towards the tournament which Nigeria intends to gain promotion from their present group.
