While her colleagues will be slugging it out at the National Sports Festival in Edo State, Oyinlomo Quadre will be battling a Spanish player in Monastir, Tunisia.

Quadre, the Nigerian number one player, is up against AlmudenaSanz-Llaneza Fernandez, a Spanish female tennis player, in the first round of the second leg of the Monastir ITF Tour in Tunisia.

In the first leg of the competition, the top rated youngster breezed into the second round of the tournament after beating another top player.

She could not go past the tournament’s number three seed in the second leg, as she made several unforced errors due to the terrible state of the weather at the time.

“I think I threw away so many chances, she was more experienced and she took the points when it mattered most, I also made a lot of mistakes today (last week) because of the wind.

“Overall it was a match that could have gone my way, but I am also very happy with this tournament it’s my first one since one year.

“And it’s the first step this year into transitioning into the professional circuit. I am very optimistic and I am looking forward to the next one,” Quadre had told Nigeria Tennis Live after the loss.

She is now poised to do better in the second leg of the event in Tunisia, as she hopes to rack up more points in the competition.

The Nigerian tennis prodigy who got into the tournament via a Wild Card will be hoping to justify her inclusion in the Main Draw of the competition by going one better than the first leg.

Nigerian tennis followers across the globe will be rooting for the 17-year-old as she gradually transits to the senior cadre of tennis.

Nigeria Tennis Live will also be monitoring the match scheduled to hold not before 11:30am on Court 5 of the Hotel Skanes Family Monastir, Tunisia, and report the updates to our teeming readers.
