Reports reaching Naija Tennis Special have it that female Nigerian tennis stars; MaryLove Edwards and Oyinlomo Quadri are among the Nigerian players who have stormed Tunisia for the Fed Cup championship.
The Nigerian players, it was gathered, qualified for the team tournament after their exploits in Togo early in 2017 and their participation is expected to further strengthen junior tennis in the country and indeed West Africa.
MaryLove Edwards and Quadri will strive to ensure Nigeria’s participation in this year’s tournament yields positive fruits. |
Rebecca Ekpenyong is the only other Nigerian player to join the players for the tournament in Tunisia, having performed impressively during the tournament in Togo, and caught the eyes of the coaches.
MaryLove’s participation may have been as a result of her sterling performances in the past few weeks where she reached the finals of the CBN Senior Open before losing to star player, Sarah Adegoke in two straight sets.
