Apart from her impressive performances on the tennis courts, prodigiously talented Nigerian young tennis star, Marylove Edwards, is also a force to reckon with in her academics.

Nigerian Tennis Live had reported a few weeks ago that the Nigerian starlet who departed the shores of the country to further her education and tennis development at the IMG Tennis Academy, Bradenton, Florida, has won her first tournament since her move.

Marylove was the cynosure of all eyes when she won the USTA Celsius Level 6 girls’ 14 & Under tournament at the first time of calling, and all focus was directed towards her almost immediately. But there’s more to her than just her tennis prowess.

Marylove and some of her friends when they went to church at the Academy.

According to reports filed in by her management firm, Temple Management Company (TMC), the 12-year-old has also exceled in her academics and has shown ingenuity when pitted against her classmates in school.

Koye Sowemimo, the Head of Sports at the TMC, informed Nigerian Tennis Live that the national U-14 champion has been outstanding in her academics since she got to the American territory.

He said: “In terms of her academics, Marylove has started well and is working hard to adapt to a new curriculum.

Marylove creatively made a fox using only sticks during a creative arts class at the IMG Academy.

“She is also exceling in most of her subjects in class.

“There was this image she came up with during an Art class, where she creatively made a fox from sticks, you need to see the end result.

“We believe that she already has a solid foundation and can only build on that to get better in her academics as she has been impressive with her tennis.”

Marylove is billed to be in the United States for a minimum of four-five years, during which period she is expected to have been molded into one of the greatest tennis players from this part of the world.
