M15 Monastir: Bulus Crushes Top Seed, Reaches 2nd Quarterfinal In Four Weeks

Nigeria’s Christopher Bulus has reached the quarterfinal of an ITF event for the second time in four weeks, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

The Davis Cup talisman for team Nigeria has been in fine form since leading his country to a World Group II Playoff spot at the Davis Cup event in Abuja, Nigeria.

And in his fourth consecutive competition, he has reached his second quarterfinal spot while competing on the ITF pro-circuit.

After his exploits to reach the quarterfinals of the M15 Xativa, Spain, the Nigerian ATP player followed it up with a semis spot at the M15 Vaasa in Finland before heading out to Tunisia.

Despite getting a Wild Card to play in his first week in the North African country, Bulus could not manage to go past the first round.

However, after starting the second week in Tunisia from the qualifying rounds, the Kaduna-born double handed backhand player has forced his way to quarterfinal of the M15 Monastir event without as much as dropping a set.

He defeated Guilluame Dalmasso, a fellow qualifying entrant from France 6-2, 6-4 in the first round, before sweeping off Tom Paris, another French player, in the second round.

Bulus outplayed Paris, the tournament’s number three seed, in two straight sets, although he needed a tiebreak to take the maximum points in the second set. The match ended 6-3. 7-6(5) in favour of the Nigerian tennis star.

He will now trade serves with Mikhail Gorokhov, the tournament’s number seven seed from Russia, in a crunch quarterfinal encounter on Friday.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring the activities of the only Nigerian player on the ATP rankings and share all the updates with our teeming audience scattered across the globe.
