JUST IN: Nigeria’s Abayomi Phillips Overcomes Swedish Player In Difficult Qualifying Match

Nigeria’s Abayomi Phillips has qualified for the main draw of the ongoing Stavanger Junior ITF Circuit in Norway after a difficult match against Alen Curovic of Sweden.

The Nigerian player, Nigeria Tennis Live gathered, defeated the Swedish player in two straight sets of 6-3, 6-2.

In spite of the seemingly smooth result, the match was not as easy, as the coach, Dominic, revealed in a short chat with our correspondent.

“The match was really tough, but we scaled through.

“The cold today was even worse than when we came, but I believe that he’s warming up to the weather gradually and he’s getting used to the environment,” the coach stated.

Alongside Emmanuel Jebutu, Phillips, ranked 476 in the world, will now seek to make a statement in Norway in their first ever visit to Europe.

The draws will be made later today and Nigeria Tennis Live will monitor the proceedings and report to our teeming audience scattered across the world.
